FAQ: Before We Meet...
One of the main reason I created this website was to allow you to get to know me a little bit before scheduling an appointment. I hope that you find the following questions and answers helpful in learning more about me, therapy and recovery.
Q: How do I schedule an appointment?
A: Call my cell phone: (847) 858-8889 or e-mail me at:
easchwartz11@yahoo.com.
Q: Do I
really need help? Do I need to see a therapist? It's not
that bad, is it?
A: Sound familiar? I am happy to meet with you to discuss
these very questions. I have experience at multiple levels of
care and am happy to talk with you about your struggles and severity
of symptoms in order to better understand your needs and the best
level of care for you.
Q: Do you offer free consultations?
A: Yes. I think it's important that you find the right fit for
you. Thus, I am happy to meet with you and/or your family for an
initial 30 minute consultation. During that time, we will
discuss what you are seeking help for as well as what you are looking for in a
therapist. Additionally, I will tell you a little bit more about myself
and my approach to treatment. My hope is that in meeting
in-person, you will find help in the decision-making process that
goes along with finding the best treatment and therapist for you.
Q: What will therapy do for me, my
family, and/or my child?
A: Cognitive-behavior therapy has been shown to be highly effective
in treating eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. What
this means is that therapy will provide you with greater
self-awareness (i.e. the triggers/causes) as well as skills in order
to better manage your stress, eating disorder, mood, etc.
In family therapy, I educate parents about the disorder that their child is suffering from, provide support, and give parents solid skills to help their son/daughter.
Beyond teaching skills, I will be here for support and understanding for you and your family through listening and the validation of your feelings.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: At this time, I do fee for service which means
you pay for services at each appointment
and then submit a claim
(usually a one-page form) with the receipt that I provide you to
your insurance company who may reimburse you at the coverage rate that
is in your personal insurance plan.
Q: Do you work on a sliding scale?
A: I have a limited number of spots reserved for those in need of a
reduced rate because I believe that all of those in need be given an
opportunity to receive help.
I also have a reduced rate for students.
